I have updated news for 003 (ISO not yet available) of Saluki on the wiki and blog
Currently it has no applications and no printer drivers.
The kernel is 2.6.39 i686 SMP PREEMPT built by Pemasu.
This is very different to 002 and it shows the direction and style
that we hope will emerge from Jemimah.
It is still very much an alpha release for testing and feedback :)
Decided not to try it at this early stage. Mainly because I will be tempted to start using it and I feel it better to stay with 5.3.1 for a while longer . . . as it is still improving and inspiring our smartest dogs.
I do tend to use an alpha build and get used to its improvements. So for example Quickpet and Slickpet seem a terrible omission from other Puppies.
What is great is finding people are supporting each others projects. There will be considerable advantage to Saluki (the SFS in particular) but for day to day usage I need the full Puppy software range.
Loaded saluki 011 on my old HP dv1000 laptop and it works like it was custom made for it. Added Clementine music player deleted xnoise, added firefox 10 deleted midori, added vlc. All programs added are working perfectly. Cricket usb a600 modem working fine. Loaded saluki 013 on my hp pavillion 3200+ desktop works good except rear sound with soundblaster audigy se. Have tried most of the suggestions in murga forums. If anyone knows how to get 5.1 sound working HELP HELP I'M DROWNING IN SOUND PROBLEMS.
I am new to this forum. May I suggest some apps to be included as SFS or pets in Saluki? I need "texworks" (for tex coding, texlive itself is available as an SFS file) and mathematical softwares like e.g. "maxima" and "Scilab", but an SFS file like mathslacko is more desirable.
Welcome to our small village, Owari :)
I think the point of this thread is only to inform the people how the development of Saluki is going.
I'm not sure the developers will see your suggestion here.
Here is the main thread for suggestions and bugs:
Wow, it became 126 pages long now :)
