Quirky 8.1.6 x86_64 released by BK 11 Jan 2017(6 posts) (1 voice)
re installing to flashdrive.
we only got so many flashdrives which are mostly full already. so writing new means overwriting an already working install with something that may not work.
frugal install of extracted iso to folder means many puppys simultaneousness can be tested and used.
"The Universal Installer is handy to install Quirky to internal hard drive, though it is possible to do it manually."
going to try just extract and copy the gz.? later relocating today.
devx.pet ? nope aint one of those at ibiblio ah its http://distro.ibiblio.org/quirky/quirky6/amd64/packages/pet_packages-sq142/devx-8.1.6-sq142.pet ?
oh and flashdrives are: "Increasingly, however, this is seen as a legacy format"
what we use now is microSD cards preferably internal. so am going to write to that and if it dont boot internal will put it in the usb plugged adapter.
dont want to write it to my external HD because i got quirky xerus8.1.5 on that and am not sure i can write it there again as it is the only successful install i made after far too much trying elsewhere.
havent done it yet as was waiting for reports and got other thinks occupying my concentration. plus i have to go search for a sdcard that i can overwrite.
oh and first TV with hdmi port out of about 4 or 5 that didnt have either hdmi or vga.. havent located the hdmi port yet as it is wall mounted ad cant get behind easily. so will be rasp3ing too lol. want to set it up so i can not need a monitor. hmm have to go buy a hdmi cable too. more junk to carry around ... or discard after setup.
