Quirky Linux 8.1
raspi3 model b
only instructions read were http://distro.ibiblio.org/quirky/quirky6/armv7/releases/xerus-8.1/install-quirky.htm
went straight to desktop.
0. is my raspi3 fake? well if it is it still works anyway:) will my hdmi to vga adapter cable work. yes no problem this is the adapter with the blue vga cable plugged in (cost 390 baht generic no name made in china):
the cable adapter also has a cable to connect sound - not shown, didnt try it
0.a will my phones adapter/charger to micro usb work to power the raspi3 - yes no problem
1. my kingston 8G micro sdcard has about 7.5 G of useable space ie. somewhat less than 8G, this was not a problem as the quirky-8G.xz image via dd (in fatdog64-710b2) only used less than 7G for the two partitions it produced
2. inserting the sdcard which way? inserting the micro sdcard looking at the botttom of the case, the writing on the sdcard will be visable got a picture will upload it later
it needs to pushed in further than in the image so that just the slot that your fingernail goes in to drag it out, is visible.
3. mouse, dont own one Nor external keyboard. do i get a bluetooth one will it work OTB?
so only after quirky had booted i went and bought a mouse. they only had bluetooth mouse in the shop so i didnt have to decide (cost 199 baht without the needed 2 x AAA batteries). plugged in the bluetooth usb put some batteries in and viola it worked in quirky without having to configure anything. amazing!
virtual keyboard in quirky from the bottom tray. hmmm so yes it opens so how to type? took me a while to figure that you need to click on the "focus" key then click on the window you want to type into.
ok so far so good everything going smoothly
