Running full install of lucid 5.2.8.
The wireless card is a Broadcom BCM4311.
Ok, I'll give a little background here. This laptop used to run w/7, and for reasons I don't want to get sidetracked explaining, it needed to be uninstalled. I can tell you though, the wireless worked perfectly, so there's nothing wrong with the wireless card itself.
After installing Pup, whether the wireless works or not seems to depend on what mood it's in, or maybe which way the stars are aligned. Started out with the default B43 drivers which worked...until they stopped working.
Then I installed Frisbee network manager, which through some sort of sorcery, made the wireless start working again...until it stopped working again. Worth not is it worked fine for like a week.
At some point, I had started this thread...
in which I had received this reply...
Sizzle, This will fix your wireless problem. Go to This website and download the b43-firmware-LP-PHY.pet. Then go to /lib/firmware where you will see the folder b43. Delete it. Run the b43 pet that you downloaded. Reboot. Bingo, problems solved.
Now, despite the new drivers, and frisbee, it just plain stopped working out of the blue when it was working just fine. No matter what I try, I cannot get the wireless back up and running.
Please help! I am getting so monumentally pissed off at this OS!
