   have woof2 ready for ARM CPU :)

   . . . well eh . . . yes . . . Woof2 . . . and fossil is on my system
   and if I can do it . . . a fish could do it . . .
   (gosh I feel like a cutting edge developer - soon the smart dogs will be along and I will back to suchi status) ;)

   No CPU - no point

   Update
   ah - apparently Woof2 does not yet compile for ARM (using Debian Squeeze)
   but Barry is working on it . . .
   Gosh I am a sort of cutting edge crustacean . . . :)

   The first part is probably much the same

   I used an early woof 1 two or three times and could not do a build
   (too finicky and geeky)
   getting it on the system was the easy bit

   I have not yet tried a compile
   maybe now that I have had my cod liver oil tablet . . .

   creating a build was the hard part and I never achieved that with woof 1

   I am really interested in x86 64bit or better still ARM compile (which is not yet available)

   For obvious reasons - long term usage and feed back to Barry you should go to Woof 2

   OK I am at stage 2

   That was easy

   Basically you choose the type of wooflet you want
   Scientific (which is an RPM base) is available as well as the usual big dogs
   You just need to follow the instructions in README-FIRST
   - which I have done for a racy build and now have a directory of packages etc

   . . . so pleased I could crush a grape
   . . . or blow a raspberry
   (so to speak)

   OK no laughing from the fish at the back.
   I iz woofing it up :)
   so . . . what is the next step . . .?

   I have a feeling 01micko will be releasing a Woof2 Slacko
   and Tman and Jemimah could produce the first Saluki alpha soonish - hooray!

   and then . . . well you would need a time machine for that . . .

   Best news this century - Jemimah is back! Always easy to recognise outstanding talent. Admire her dedication, listening & responding, and creative ability; as well as eschewing SM! This lady may enable BK to (eventually) retire, enjoy the Outback & co. with confidence that his magnum opus will, errr... rule the world - maybe.

   You must have been hanging on with those pincers.
   I am running Lupu 520 and made my directories in /mnt/home.
   I opened a terminal in the first directory and got the woof2.fossil file with no problem. But I do not know if it is because I am running SeaMonkey instead of Firefox, but the line I was suppose to use to get to the user interface failed.
   ie, I typed "fossil ui woof2.fossil" and sat looking at a blank line in the terminal after hitting return and nothing happening.
   So what am I missing here?

   I typed "fossil ui woof2.fossil"

   It is quite a slow process
   It downloads some stuff [that is a technical term] that will appear in the
   console window but eventually you will see you have to close the terminal
   - after the 'stuff step' with ctrl + C (according to Barry)
   - oh and I am using Seamonkey too . . .
   I followed Barrys instructions very carefully - all I can say :)

    OK stage 3
    which I found here:

    I did this:

    Download package database files
    Open a terminal in the 'woof' directory, then run '0setup':
    # ./0setup

    and got this sort of thing (after some downloads)
    not sure what it all means or what to do

    Synchronising Packages-puppy-wary5-official with other Packages-puppy-[2345]-official files...
    Note, Packages-puppy-wary5-official is the package db file used to build Puppy.

    I got the same error message when using original woof. I deleted the entire line in the Pakages-puppy-wary5-official file.
    EDIT:I did some more research and deleting the entire line won't work, if you are making a Wary puplet. Try changing the '412' near the end of that line to 'wary5'

    Also, if you are trying to build racy, rename 'DISTRO_PKGS_SPECS-puppy-wary5-HIDE-RACY5.2.2' to 'DISTRO_PKGS_SPECS-puppy-wary5'

    I can't seem to edit the last post anymore..

    Deleting the line works if you're making a Racy puplet, but Wary needs that Xorg.
    I've tracked down what the actual line is supposed to be:

    xorg73_base_t2-7.3-w5c|xorg73_base_t2|7.3-w5c||BuildingBlock|6216K||xorg73_base_t2-7.3-w5c.pet||Convert X font from Bitmap Distribution Format to Portable Compiled Format|puppy|wary5||

    You might also need to add the following lines below it, if they don't exist:
    xorg73_base_t2_DEV-7.3-w5c|xorg73_base_t2_DEV|7.3-w5c||BuildingBlock|7040K||xorg73_base_t2_DEV-7.3-w5c.pet|+xorg_base_t2|Convert X font from Bitmap Distribution Format to Portable Compiled Format|puppy|wary5||

    xorg73_base_t2_DOC-7.3-w5c|xorg73_base_t2_DOC|7.3-w5c||BuildingBlock|10980K||xorg73_base_t2_DOC-7.3-w5c.pet||Convert X font from Bitmap Distribution Format to Portable Compiled Format|puppy|wary5||

    Thanks guys :)

    I remember from Woof1, that I had to run the downloading several times and then error checking was added . . .
    The main difference between the two seems to be the move from bones to Fossil
    and the added support for different architectures.

    If familiar with woof1, then woof2 would be useful if working on a new wooflet such as Saluki. Otherwise woof1
    For now feedback on Barrys blog is probably best :)

    I do believe I'm the first to release an official woof2 distro (Wasn't Wary/Racy-5.2.2 the last of woof1?).

    Slacko-5.3.1 is out with the latest bugfixes.
